STARTING YOUR MAKEUP KIT!

Since im currently a student starting up my makeup kit is a big investment in my career. Its always difficult at first to figure out what products u need, what is better quality among other products and of course the cost. Over the past month or so ive done alot of research to find different wedsite and companies that offer brand name products at very afforadable prices.

Here are a few tips on startig on ur professional maleup kit.

1. You don't need high end products

- You may think that the only products that a good are "high-end" produts such a MAC or Makeup Forever. The answer is no; although these products are good quality makeup you don't nessessarily need them to start our kit. Whats more important is the basis and buying products you already know works best weather it may be from the drugstore or sephora. Ways to figure this out is going thru what is currently in ur makeup kit now and find things that you know are your "holy grail" and start from there. Its important to invest more in your bases, primers, concealers and foundations/powders because it is the BASE of any makeup look and without a good foundation all the hard work and application would be gone to waste

2. RESEARCH RESEACH RESEACH!

- When starting out in the makeup business is it important to research as much products as you can, What you find at Walmart just might be better for comparable to some those other departmant store brands. Doing your research can be very time consuming but will help you SAVE MONEY! There are a few researching tactics that will help alot when starting your makeup kit...

     1. YouTube - I look at YouTube as a "one stop shop" for products reviews. There are thousands of makeup gurus, makeup artist, makeup companies who have YouTube channels that can give you product reviews, demos, tell you the pros and cons, how they work on different clients, as well as tips and tricks on makeup/product application. Another perk is that these channels can give you the latest trends on certain products and brands so you are always up to date!

     2. Kijiji - This is a big secret of mine! Unlike ebay where you bid and have products ship to you, Kijiji is a site where all purchases are met in person. Although this might be a little scary meeting up with people you don't know, it's always important to make sure with with a friend lol. Other than that kijiji is a GREAT place to bargain on brand name products when first starting your kit. BUT its always important to  make sure to ask questions about the products if its been used or damaged and also when you meet with person, always analysis the product to make sure that it's legit!

    3. Student Discounts!!! - This is also another big way to save money, is to apply to as much companies as you can. If you are a student that are some brands that have student discounts that often requires a Proof of Enrollment and a picture ID. Companies such as MAC, Makeup For Ever, Temptu, OCC, Stila, etc provide student discounts. If you are already licensed and working as a professional then a tear sheet, business car, website and diploma should work as well. Discounts also vary between companies from 10% - 40% off.
